The Benedictine Convent of St John at Müstair has been inhabited continuously since its foundation in the 8th century. Today there are eight women who practise Benedictine spirituality in the convent on a daily basis. Since October 2019, Sr Aloisia Steiner has headed the monastic community. Her open and balanced way of leadership also radiates beyond the convent walls.
The work of our sisters is diverse. In addition to the garden, there’s plenty to be done in the office and in the church. We also run a small guesthouse with the help of our employees.
We hope that the praise of God will continue to resound in our convent in the future and that we can offer the many people who come and go in our monastery an atmosphere of tranquillity.
