Since the discovery of the world-famous frescoes at the end of the 19th century, and after their complete uncovering between 1947 and 1951, the coordination of the restauration efforts, as well as the financial needs have far surpassed the abilities of the convent. Therefore, on May 16, 1969 the Pro Kloster St. Johann Foundation was founded.
