Living convent living cultural heritage The museum at the convent
Masonery, stucco, layers of paint and whitwash, plasterwork, beams and paneling are witnesses to the convent's history. Just like the documents in the nunnery's archives, these architectural witnesses have to be preserved for posterity. Supervised by the canton's Department for Preservation of Monuments and Historic Buildings and a federal expert, restorers provide first-class conservation and restauration of the historically significant structures. In lieu of the monastic community the Pro Kloster St. Johann Foundation has taken over the supervision and financing of the restauration effort.
